Job Description

Andrew P. Stewart Center is seeking a full-time Director of Education and Enrichment to provide leadership for all K-12 programs including After School, Summer Camp and Youth Leadership Programs serving 150+ students. This role ensures that programs contribute to meaningful outcomes for students and families, while advancing the Stewart Center’s broader goals related to quality education, stable housing, and community wellness.

Who We Are:

Andrew P. Stewart Center is a community development nonprofit organization in the Pittsburgh Community of southwest Atlanta that exists to see our neighbors living purposeful lives in pursuit of their full potential. The organization promotes strong communities through educational enrichment, wellness resources, and housing solutions. The Center directs all of its resources in partnership with Pittsburgh residents to transform the neighborhood into a place of hope and opportunity.

The Stewart Center is deeply embedded in the neighborhood, serving as the on-site after school provider at the local elementary school and partnering with community organizations to support strong, connected programming.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a strong manager and relationship-builder who can drive effective youth programs in an urban setting. They also have 3+ years of experience in youth development, K-12 education, or community-based programming.

This person can develop a team, build partnerships, and translate vision into effective, place-based programming. They bring a growth mindset and genuine enthusiasm for working with young people, families, and community partners. They are able to balance academic progress with creating programs that feel safe, welcoming, and engaging for all students.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide leadership and staff development to 3 program coordinators and 10-15 seasonal staff
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of student programs, adapting strategies to meet the distinct goals and needs of each program.
  • Ensure operational excellence across youth programs by establishing and maintaining strong systems for high-quality execution across staffing, scheduling, registration, meals, safety, and communication.
  • Align youth programs with the Stewart Center’s community development model by fostering cross-team collaboration and connecting families to supports and resources
  • Cultivate strong relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners to enhance program quality, expand community impact, and represent the organization in the neighborhood and beyond.

Keys to Success:

  • Program Development: You are able to design and oversee evidence-based programming that supports students’ academic progress, social-emotional growth, and enrichment.
  • Project Management & Execution: You effectively manage multiple priorities, anticipate obstacles, and engage the right stakeholders to move work forward. You focus on long-range planning, not just day-to-day execution. You set clear goals, track outcomes, and use data to improve results for students and families.
  • Staff Management & Leadership: You build and lead a strong, mission-aligned program team. You equip staff to deliver engaging, age-appropriate experiences. You invest in coaching, feedback, and systems that support staff growth and success. You effectively delegate and empower team members to take ownership.
  • Systems Thinking: You bring structure by designing systems that ensure consistency and quality across programs while allowing for growth.
  • Relationship Building: You build trust with diverse stakeholders and are able to communicate effectively across audiences including students, families, colleagues, and partners.
