Job Description

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support in a medical facility, ensuring efficient patient care and smooth operation of the clinic. This role involves assisting healthcare providers with patient assessments, performing clinical procedures within scope, managing patient records, and collaborating with the care team. The Medical Assistant must be certified and possess strong communication skills, with at least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
• Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering medications as directed.
• Manage patient records, document clinical information accurately using Cerner charting system.
• Coordinate patient flow and scheduling to optimize clinic efficiency.
• Float between departments or units as required by facility needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Medical Assistant certification from one of the following: AAMA, AMT, NHA, ARMA, NCCT, NRCMA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Medical Assisting, or 5 years of MA experience with certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Experience with adult and pediatric patient care.
• Ability to work within 75 miles of the facility.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with Cerner electronic medical record system.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility to float between clinic areas as needed.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend or holiday return to office (RTO) requirements.
• Maximum of 5 days RTO per week, with no more than 2 consecutive days.
• No RTO the day before or after a holiday.
• Mandatory floating to other departments or units as required by the facility.
• Clinic uses Cerner for charting; familiarity preferred.
• Free street parking or paid garage parking available.

Scheduling:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM shifts (5 days of 8-hour shifts).
• 40 guaranteed hours per week.
